2 Famous Mubahalas |
Mirza Tahir vs. General Zia |
Mirza Tahir vs. Illias Suttar |

Year |
1988 |
1999 |
|
Circumstances |
Mirza Tahir Ahmad issued An Open Invitation to Mubahala inviting the entire Muslim Ummah while specifically naming General Zia-ul Haq. |
The circumstances are not clear on who issued the challenge to who. Ahmadis claim Illias Suttar initiated it whereas Muslims claim Muhammad Usman, an Ahmadi Missionary initiated it. It actually doesn’t matter who initiated it. |
|
Was this a Real Mubahala? |
No. General Zia-ul Haq never accepted the Mubahala Challenge. This is acknowledged in Ahmadi literature. 1 One Ahmadi relative once told me a story that when the Challenge reached Zia, he said, “Throw it in the trash can.” |
Yes. 3 Witnesses from Both Sides Signed the Challenge in a Face to Face meeting. That document is online for anyone who wants to read it. 3 Then Mirza Tahir Ahmad made a public acceptance of it. The videotape is available for anyone who wants proof. 4 |
|
Did the Punishment come from “The Hand of the Lord?” |
No. General Zia-ul Haq died in an airplane crash. The headlines read “Zia Blown out of sky.” Foul play was very likely (a bomb was probably put on his plane) and nobody knows who killed him. |
Yes. Mirza Tahir Ahmad was giving a Friday Sermon in Norway less than a month after he had accepted the challenge. His tongue got paralyzed and he could not finish the Friday Sermon. For a while he remained sick and could not lead prayers. I remember this so clearly because in 1999 “Huzur all of a sudden got sick.” When he did initially recover from his sickness and would lead prayers, he would make basic mistakes such as ending prayers early, etc. |
|
Who won? |
Nobody won. It wasn’t a real Mubahala. Ahmadi Leaderships lies to its followers. Ahmadis say because Zia persecuted Ahmadis and didn’t stop his persecution he was included in the Mubahala by his actions. 2 Look, I don’t mean any offense to Ahmadis, but it doesn’t matter if Zia orchestrated an Ahmadi Holocaust; that does not give Ahmadis the right change the meaning of The Holy Quran. The rule and nature of Mubahala states that BOTH PARTIES MUST ACCEPT. Read The Qur’an and you’ll see that it is very clear cut and easy to understand. |
After his sickness, Mirza Tahir Ahmad died in 2003 at the age of 74. Nothing happened to Illias Suttar and he is still well and alive.
Nabeel, take a guess on who won?
It’s so clear cut that one very well-respected office bearing Ahmadi relative of mine had to make up a story saying, “The Mubahala was cancelled. I read it in the Al-Fazl.”
Of course, this Ahmadi relative of mine was never able to provide me with documented proof nor an explanation on how a Mubahala can be cancelled after both sides have accepted it. |

A History of Mubahala over the last 50 Years |

|
Year |
Who? Vs. Who? |
Circumstances |
Result |
|
1950s – 1960s |
Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Chinioti vs. Mirza Mahmud Ahmad |
Dedicated to proving the falsehood of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and to stop the Anti-Islamic activities in that new town “Rabwah” that had been “illegally created” in Pakistan. | Mirza Mahmud Ahmad backed out. |
|
1970s |
Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Chinioti vs. Mirza Nasir Ahmad |
Now that Mirza Mahmud was dead, Maulana Chinioti turned to his son. | Mirza Nasir Ahmad backed out. |
|
1988 |
Mirza Tahir Ahmad vs. The Entire Muslim Ummah |
Mirza Tahir Ahmad issued An Open Invitation to Mubahala in which he pretty much invited every Muslim for Mubahala. | Multiple people would respond and take him up on the Challenge. Most of them probably laughed it off as a joke. |
|
1988 |
Mirza Tahir Ahmad vs. General Zia-ul Haq |
Mirza Tahir told Zia that since he didn’t stop “persecuting Ahmadis,” he was “automatically included” in this Mubahala by his actions. | This is an example of the above quote on how Ahmadis are “quick to claim… divine judgment in their favor.” |
|
1989 |
Syed Abdul Hafeez Shah vs. Mirza Tahir Ahmad |
Syed Abdul Hafeez Shah never really cared about Ahmadis.
After reading An Open Invitation to Mubahala he was infuriated at Mirza Tahir and offered to come to London. Shah was 77 years old while Mirza Tahir was only 60. |
Mirza Tahir Ahmad backed out. |
|
1989 |
Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Ludhianvi vs. Mirza Tahir Ahmad |
In response to An Open Invitation to Mubahala, Maulana Ludhianvi offered to come to London for a legitimate Mubahala. | Mirza Tahir Ahmad backed out. |
|
1989 |
Son of the Former Principal of the Ahmadiyya Madrassa vs. Mirza Tahir Ahmad |
In response to An Open Invitation to Mubahala, he was upset that the allegations (28 Sworn Testimonies) against the character or Mirza Mahmud had not been addressed. He challenged Mirza Tahir to clear these allegations from his father’s name (by swearing that they were false). | Mirza Tahir Ahmad backed out. |
|
1994 |
Syed Abdul Hafeez Shah vs. Mirza Tahir Ahmad |
Syed Abdul Hafeez Shah once again challenged Mirza Tahir Ahmad to participate in a Face to Face Mubahala. | Mirza Tahir Ahmad backed out. |
|
1994 |
Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Chinioti vs. Mirza Tahir Ahmad |
This time Maulana Chinioti was willing to meet in any place in England. | Mirza Tahir Ahmad backed out. |
|
1996 |
Athesam Haq Abdul Bari vs. Mirza Tahir Ahmad |
A former Ahmadi from Bombay, India who was angry at how Ahmadiyyat was lying to poor people in India decided to go to London to do Mubahala. | Mirza Tahir Ahmad backed out. |
|
1999 |
Illias Suttar vs. Mirza Tahir Ahmad |
Ahmadi Missionary Muhammad Usman and Illias Suttar were having a debate. Based on this debate, a Mubahala was agreed upon and 3 witnesses from both sides signed the agreement in a Face to Face meeting. | Mirza Tahir Ahmad made the mistake of actually participating in a legitimate Mubahala. The facts are clear for all to see. |
|
2003 |
Dr. Syed Rashid Ali vs. Mirza Masroor Ahmad |
A Very Fair Mubahala:
Worldwide Head of the “Anti Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam”
Both of them are approximately equal age and in good health. |
Mirza Masroor Ahmad backed out. |
The Qadiani (Ahmadi) leadership would like everyone to believe they are eager to participate in a Mubahala, when in reality they have been avoiding every challenge made to them for decades. Their pretentious and cunning strategy of challenging everyone and everything to Mubahala, while refusing to actually participate in such a venue is a testimony to their utter disregard of Quranic instructions: they are cunning in their attempt to avoid Quranic Mubahala to spare their dynasty from the curse of Allah(SWT).
